Book Publishing Cost in Nigeria

Updated September 2026. Published Naira prices, what each package includes, and the four things that move the number.

Publishing a book in Nigeria costs anywhere from ₦599,000 for a short first book to ₦20,000,000 for a full legacy package with ghostwriting, PR and international distribution. The gap between those figures is not marketing — it is four variables: length, interior colour, print run, and how much of the work you want done for you.

What pushes the cost up

  1. Page count. Packages are priced to a page basis — a 400-page manuscript is not a 200-page manuscript, and the difference is real: paper, printing and layout all scale with it.
  2. Colour interior. A handful of colour pages changes the printing method, and is usually the single biggest jump.
  3. Print run. Small runs print digitally; larger runs print offset, where the unit cost drops sharply. Asking for more copies can cost less per book.
  4. Extras. Editing, marketing campaigns, press releases, author websites and launch events are add-ons, priced by scope.

Editing is the one most authors under-budget. A 90,000-word manuscript needing developmental work is a different project from one that needs a proofread.

eBook only?

eBook-only publishing — conversion, ISBN and global distribution to Amazon and other platforms — is ₦500,000 standalone. If you are already printing copies, adding the eBook edition is ₦300,000.

Frequently asked

How much does it cost to publish a book in Nigeria?

Between ₦599,000 and ₦20,000,000 depending on the package. Most first-time authors publishing a standard-length book land between ₦1,000,000 and ₦2,000,000.

Can I publish for less than ₦500,000?

Not with a full service. At that level you are doing the editing, cover and layout yourself and paying only for ISBN and printing.

Do I need to buy copies?

Printing is included in the packages. Distribution to bookstores and online retailers is separate, and can be print-on-demand with no upfront stock, or a print run.

How long does it take?

Typically 6 to 8 weeks from the final manuscript for a standard package. Rush timelines are possible and are priced as a rush.

Do I keep the rights?

Yes. You keep your copyright and 100% of your royalties. We are a self-publishing company — not a traditional publisher, and not a partnership.

What do you need to give an exact figure?

Your manuscript in Word format, the approximate page count, whether you need colour inside, and how many copies you want.
